Law Of The Sea

Shockingly, our socialist President is foisting yet another massive socialist scheme upon us.

Malkin:

"It is not hyperbole to expose LOST’s socialist roots. Meddling Marxist Elisabeth Mann Borgese, the godmother of the global ocean regulatory scheme, made no bones about it: 'He who rules the sea,' she exulted, 'rules the land.' LOST is a radical giveaway of American sovereignty in the name of environmental protection. And it should be sunk once and for all."

Transnationalism is a species of Progressivism.

And if you call all this Pragmatism, or simply scoff that none of it has anything to do with ideology and only a fanatic would think in those terms, have I got a book for you.

Read and learn, or die a pawn.

Goldberg

I've only just started The Tyranny Of Cliches, so I cannot render a final verdict (though it's off to a rollicking start).

"But I have read the early part that Joe Klein criticizes which Goldberg takes issue to here (and while is worth the quote, since it emphasizes a vital truth):

"Well yes, it is pedestrian in a decidedly liberal way for him to say this. When I write: 'the point is that sometimes the extreme is 100 percent correct while the centrist position is 100 percent wrong,' I mean 'sometimes the extreme position is 100% correct.'  Does he deny that?  Or does he honestly believe the difference-splitting middle is always right?

Well, maybe he does. Like so many in his phylum, Klein is fixated on the issue of 'compromise.' These days, “compromise” means conservatives should cave-in on all of the big issues and liberals should be gracious about not rubbing it in too hard. Amusingly, this is a major theme of my book, and Klein not only doesn’t really seem to understand it but he – like Piers Morgan before him — seems determined to illustrate the point for me.

"He says that real policy disputes revolve around how much Social Security checks should go up, and that it is “infantile” for me to suggest otherwise.  In other words, according to Klein conservatives are grown-ups when they agree to the status quo and/or growth in the size of government, but they are extremists when they suggest more structural reforms. Liberals, meanwhile,  are grown-ups when they agree to bend a little on how much bigger the checks should be and, I surmise, they are never extremists because Joe Klein’s version of liberalism is never wrong. Ultimately, any effort more ambitious than slowing the rate of increase in entitlement spending is, by Klein’s lights, extremist.

"No wonder he doesn’t like the book. It’s as if I wrote it about him!"

Who's The Race Baiter?

If the Dems now spin hysterically in an effort to quash any mention of Jeremiah Wright (via Jacobson) in the upcoming campaign, ostensibly to prevent "race baiting," then of course they (again) are the race baiters.

Why? Because Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright - in all its long-standing, intricate, substantive glory - goes not only straight to the heart of Obama's deceit, but to straight to the heart of his socialist identity and goals. Sure, l'affair Wright  has to "do with" race: insofar as Black Liberation Theology has to "do with" race. But this isn't "about" race.

"About race" is what the Dems are. And they're proving it once more.

Who's The Bully?

I wouldn't use the term "bully." I believe "gangster" is more apt. But I get the point (Ahlert at FrontPage):

"If that has a familiar ring, maybe it’s because the president used the exact same bullying tactic during the 2011 budget debate engendered by reaching the debt ceiling. That was when he attempted to scare seniors regarding their Social Security checks. 'I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven’t resolved (the debt ceiling) issue,' warned Mr. Obama. 'Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it.'

"That was an utter lie. Even if an agreement had not been reached by the deadline, there was plenty of money available to continue servicing the debt, and send seniors their Social Security checks.

"None of these tactics should surprise anyone. Mr. Obama’s penchant for bullying has been clear since 2008. 'If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,' the president said at a Philadelphia fundraiser during his last presidential run. 'Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.' And yet again, before the 2010 election, he urged his Latino supporters to 'punish our enemies.'

"For perspective’s sake, it is critical to remember that these examples of bullying and intimidation by the president and his surrogates have occurred since 2008. This makes the Washington Post’s effort to portray Mr. Romney as a bully for an incident that occurred in 1965–fully 47 years ago–a comical effort at best, and a transparently partisan one at worst."

The American Academy: Totalitarian Enforcers

Free speech? The First Amendment?

Powerless to resist the politically correct fascists.

Fund:

"Censorship, both official and self-imposed, is an important theme here. We have heard stories from brave journalists such as Ecuador’s Nicolas Perez and Kosovo’s Jeta Xharra of efforts to silence them for expressing views unpopular with officials or special interests. So it was strange to be here and read that one of my friends and former journalistic colleagues back home in the U.S. has been fired merely for speaking her mind."

From the kangaroo courts of university disciplinary hearings, to the ginned up pressure campaigns by professional hysterics like Al Sharpton, to the deployment of civil legal action to intimidate, to the "community organizing" a la ACORN, including personal targeting of homes and businesses, the forces of left-wing conformity march on like jack-booted storm troopers. Falling just short of the despicable heights of oppression achieved by the Canadian "Human Rights Commission," political correct enforcement in America achieves nearly as much crushing of dissent without literal governmental police power...yet.

This is the private power of brow-beating, bullying, and ostracism writ large, enormously empowered by the power of 21st century electronic media - now exponentially worsened by social media such as Twitter. It is the Totalitarian Impulse: the left-wing disease.

It is the mob.

The Media/Entertainment (Left-Wing) Complex

Drip, drip, drip.  It adds up. Big Hollywood catches SNL deciding to can a skit mocking Obama. Can't have that, can we!:

"The bit had Fred Armisen's Obama extolling the glories of Killing Osama bin Laden day and telling American citizens the best way to celebrate both the day and his 'gusty call' to order the strike.

"What did the NBC show replace the Obama sketch with, you ask? Another bit trashing 'Fox and Friends' for being dumb, biased and racist."

The internet must annoy these drones no end. The truth will find a way, Obamazoids!

Obama, Thy Name Is Stalin

Most anti-Israel  administration of all time (Ceren, Commentary):

"It gets worse for Obama’s defenders, though, than merely being demonstrably wrong. It turns out that while they were insisting that the Bush administration consistently refused to reference 'Jerusalem, Israel,' the Obama State Department was busy scrubbing documents in which Bush administration referenced 'Jerusalem, Israel.' Straight down the memory hole. That’s kind of amazing when you pause and think about it, no?"

Ceren's current Commentary piece nicely recapitulates Obama's woeful three and a half year history of unstinting, unprecedented anti-Israel policy (and Ceren doesn't even get into the back-stabbing of current Iran-related goings-on). The article is not available online but you can purchase the magazine (you should).

Tobin at Contentions on the unending big-lie tactics of this ludicrous administration:

"As I wrote earlier today, most Israelis are unimpressed with the Obama administration’s Jewish charm offensive which is aimed at convincing Jews that the president’s first three years of fights with the Jewish state was a figment of our collective imagination. But the fact that three quarters of Israelis don’t seem him as friend isn’t stopping the Democratic campaign from doubling down on this push. Predictably, Vice President Joe Biden, a man for whom hyperbole is as natural as breathing, is taking this effort to extremes. While, as Alana noted, most of Biden’s foreign policy address at New York University yesterday was devoted to trashing Mitt Romney, one passage in which he waxed lyrical about the president’s devotion to Israel deserves our notice. In it, he not only exaggerated Obama’s record in terms of helping Israel, he went way out on a rhetorical limb and declared, 'no president since Harry Truman has done more for Israel’s security than Barack Obama.' "

Yeah, right, Joe. Your hero's also won the war on terror, ended the Iraq War, saved the economy, brought Wall Street to heel, made government transparent and accountable, run the cleanest administration of all time, ended the acrimony in Washington, promoted energy development, improved relations with our allies, lowered taxes, lowered the cost of health care, pursued a course of moderation...

The Obamazoids of course lap it up.  The rest of us recognize pathological lying when we hear it.

Addendum - McCarthy (at The Corner) shows that the anti-Israel Obama won't give it a rest, even now, when The One's trolling for Jewish support:

"Obama’s 'waiver' of the restrictions on Congress’s Palestinian Accountability Act was first reported in the foreign press (AFP), which is where Americans generally need to go to get news about what the U.S. administration is up to. A report from the Times of Israel is here. [Hat tip, Creeping Sharia.] The New York Times, evidently too busy reporting on how much Israel sucks, did not find this story fit to print."

The Obamazoids Plan To Feature The Killing Of Bin Laden In Their Campaign?

Really?

Do they think Americans are that stupid (Tobin at Contentions)?

Jacobson:

"We know that bin Laden was located as the result of years of work by intelligence agencies which in substantial part predated Obama. And as we now know, Obama laid the groundwork to blame the military if the raid went wrong.

"But put all that aside. Obama got Osama.  Fair enough.

"But the killing of one person has been against the backdrop of a complete disaster for the United States throughout the Middle East and Central Asia."

Go to the link and see the tip of the iceberg of the litany of catastrophes of this Presidency.

And I object to the phrase "fair enough." That Messiah takes credit at all for taking out bin Laden is the height of typical Dem-bluster balderdash:

Shapiro at Big Peace:

"President Obama made the right call to give the green light to the mission. But he did it in a way that he could shift the blame if things went wrong. Typical Obama. And typical of him to claim full credit for it, when he didn’t do anything but give a vague nod, while putting his top military officials at risk of taking the hit in case of a bad turn."

And even that was after weeks of hand-wringing, followed by endless hours of fearful procrastination, and being dragged along by Panetta.

Stop pretending your fearless leader is anything other than a weakling, Obamazoids.  He's killing us at home and abroad.

The Sad, Dangerous, STUPID Foreign Policy Of Obama: Syria Version

Krauthammer:

"If Obama wants to stay out of Syria, fine. Make the case that it’s none of our business. That it’s too hard. That we have no security/national interests there.

"In my view, the evidence argues against that, but at least a coherent case for hands off could be made. That would be an honest, straightforward policy. Instead, the president, basking in the sanctity of the Holocaust Museum, proclaims his solemn allegiance to a doctrine of responsibility — even as he stands by and watches Syria burn.

"If we are not prepared to intervene, even indirectly by arming and training Syrians who want to liberate themselves, be candid. And then be quiet. Don’t pretend the U.N. is doing anything. Don’t pretend the U.S. is doing anything. And don’t embarrass the nation with an Atrocities Prevention Board. The tragedies of Rwanda, Darfur, and now Syria did not result from lack of information or lack of interagency coordination, but from lack of will."

Dems Pursue Partisan Vendetta Against Walmart

The Democratic party is a disgusting entity. Walmart has been in the news recently for resisting Dem/Prog pressure (primarily from the neo-fascist group Color Of Change) to dump ALEC, the conservative lobbying group.

So pathetic, transparent Dems in power are going after Walmart for bribery...in Mexico!

I kid you not.

The Democratic Party is a villainous, power-mad organism that needs to be put down. Leave it and let it die, oh ye of good faith!!

Say, When Is Obama Gonna Give Back Maher's Money?

One of the biggest scumbags in American life shoots off his hate-spitting mouth again (Big Hollywood). Where's the nationwide campaign to pressure his employer and shut him down?

While they're at it, why doesn't the White House have anything to say about their fellow, nearby Dem Marion Barry and his despicable, racist comments (Hot Air)?

But then, it's all about partisan advantage now, isn't it? The moral preening, the high dudgeon. It's really all propagandistic crap deployed to advance Democratic political advantage and ultimately, the socialist ('Progressive') agenda. No Dem political advantage to advance, nothing to say.

Free Speech, Was Is Das?

Steyn at The Corner comments on the trial of Lars Hedegaard in Denmark:

"Well, it’s dangerous to be Lars Hedegaard, or Lars Vilks, or Geert Wilders or Ayaan Hirsi Ali – while there’s surely nothing safer than peddling 'dangerous' 'edgy' cobwebbed multiculti pieties and knowing that, whatever words you utter, there will never come a day when you’ll be called on to bet your house and your savings and perhaps your life on them. In some of the oldest free societies on the planet, a few guys like Lars Hedegaard are doing the heavy lifting for all of us, and paying a very high price."

And Still People Will Vote For Him

Our future is in our hands. Nice Deb picks up this nice Fox clip with Liz Cheney interviewing The Hammer:

Please, America: pay attention!

Obama Is The Money Bags

He's got ten times the dough on hand as Romney, but pretends Romney is the plutocrat candidate.

Obama was, is, and  always will be the candidate of the plutocrats.

Jacobson:

"One of the many enduring myths and legends of the Obama 2008 victory is that Obama’s record-breaking fundraising came from small donors.  Perpetuating the false impression that small donors are Obama’s base is a priority of the Obama campaign, which now focuses on running low cost ($5, $3) dinner raffles to run up the number of small donors and bring down the average donation size.

"In reality, Obama always has been heavily dependent on big donors and bundlers."

...

"As The Times points out, Obama still is doing well with Hollywood, high-tech and Wall Street, but he’s finding it harder and harder, necessitating 100 fundraisers since the spring of 2011.  Obama does not hesitate to rely on disgraced bundler  Jon Corzine."

Obama's Secret Service

No, I don't "blame" him. But it's a teaching moment, ain't it?

Steyn:

"It's not just the entitlements. Everywhere you look in the bloated federal leviathan, all is waste, all is excess. But the absurd imperial presidency is a good place to start. The next citizen-executive of this republic would be sending a right message were he to halve the motorcade, halve the security detail, halve the hookers.

"Otherwise, America's foreign creditors will start to figure out that another half-decade of U.S. spendaholism and they're likely to wind up like Dania Suarez: You loan the U.S. Government $800 billion, and come the due day the treasury secretary reaches in his pocket and says: 'So how about we call it 28 bucks even?' Dems Go To The Dogs

For Dems, 2012 is all about Mitt's dog.

I guess a tanked recovery, record unemployment, astronomic gas prices, future-crushing debt, insane, new, suffocating federal entitlements, throwing Israel and other allies under the bus, coddling Putin, muffing our opportunity in Iraq and mishandling the war in Afghanistan, losing Egypt and sucking up to the Muslim Brotherhood therein, fumbling Libya, twiddling our thumbs while Syria burns, allowing Iran to get the bomb, and, last but not least, running an imperious, profligate Presidency with a socialist agenda is all Just. Too. Complicated. For. The. Geniuses. In. The. White. House.

Propaganda: it's what Dems do best.

The Alinskyite, Socialist Left Joins The Fight For The Satus Quo

But of course (Costa at the Corner):

"Progressive activists stormed the Franklin Institute this evening. They clashed with tea-party organizer Don Adams, who blocked them from entering. It was a wild, tense scene, just minutes before Mitt Romney appeared here. Adams, who is the man at the door in this video of the incident, tells NRO that the “nasty” exchange is an example of what Romney will face this fall."

They're socialists. They're radicals. And their ultimate goal is violent remodeling of your society, for the purpose of forcibly expropriating your wealth to their ends.

They are Obama's troops, and always have been.

Read. Learn. Vote.

Need Evidence The Pulitzer Is A Left-Wing Racket?

Go no farther than this (Goldberg at The Corner):

"Talk about cliches!"

I ran through the slide show. What a bunch of crap. Absolutely no reason to award this un-funny hack unless you feel the need to elevate his hateful (and utterly mindless) portrayal of Republicans and Tea Party-ers. Genuinely pathetic.

Iran Plays Obama

While Obama endeavors to postpone a reckoning with Iran beyond his re-election (consequences for the country and the world be damned), the Persians happily proceed with their plans for hegemony and destruction:

"The diplomatic source told Yonhap that the Iranians from the Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group (SHIG) arrived in North Korea a couple of weeks earlier, 'undoubtedly there to observe the missile launch and receive test data,' from the country."

Islamist Freakazoid In The House Of Lords!

You have GOT to be kidding me (McCarthy at The Corner):

"What a proud day for the world’s most important alliance. MEMRI reports that during a recent visit to his native Pakistan, Lord Nazir Ahmed, a member of the British House of Lords, announced that he was putting up a bounty of £10 million for the capture of President Barack Obama and his predecessor, President George W. Bush."

Words fail.

Addendum:

Not such an outlying event, apparently (FrontPage):

"In a darkening atmosphere of hate, it has become increasingly dangerous to be Jewish or pro-Israel in the UK. That atmosphere extends all the way up to its highest bodies."

He Who Must Be Linked

None other than Steyn:

"When he’s not talking up his buddy Warren, the Half-Millennium Man has been staggering around demonizing Paul Ryan’s plan, which would lead, he says, to the end of the weather service, air-traffic control, national parks, law enforcement, and drinkable water. Given what’s at stake, you might think then that the president would have an alternative plan. But he has none, save for his proposal to pay off the 2011 federal deficit by the year 2526. The Obama No-Plan plan means the end of everything. That really ought to be the only slogan the Republicans need this fall:

"What’s your plan?

"And all you hear are crickets chirping.

"But don’t worry, they’re federally funded crickets, chirping at a research facility in North Carolina investigating whether there’s any correlation between chirping crickets and the inability of America’s political institutions to effect meaningful course correction.

"Hey, relax. The Buffett Rule will pick up the tab."

Brown V. Obama?

On the court?   Heh:

"In mid-February 2010, Ayla went on TV and proposed they charge admission to the game, with proceeds going to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. Springfield, Massachusetts Mayor Domenic Sarno gave it a shot next, sending a letter to the White House in late February offering to host the game in Springfield (the birthplace of basketball), with proceeds going to charities in the city. Brown said he was in, a White House spokesperson said the invitation was being studied."

At this point, Obama can no longer be accused of cowardice so much as calculation:

"This latest request for a game comes as Brown is locked in a tight reelection race with consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren. He has been working to burnish his bipartisan credentials and the optics of him on the court with Obama would be great for him now -- especially with Massachusetts Democrats seeking to tie him to Mitt Romney -- so the odds of the White House finally taking him up on his request look pretty slim."

BTW, the fact that Elizabeth Warren is even being considered by any voters at all in this state is a pathetic indictment of the loony leftism rampant in Massachusetts. Warren is a Marxist maniac, and boring as wood. But between the public service unions, people on various versions of the dole, and the ideologically robotic academic elites in Boston, the Commonwealth is hopeless.

Cory Booker: Hero

You can go to the conservative site Hot Air and see loads of praise, not surprisingly.

Because conservatives and Republicans are stand up people with intellectual and moral integrity.

Thought experiment: how would Dems and lefties react if a Republican acted similarly?

Answers itself, don't it?

I'll steal this from the comment section (angryed):

"You know very well had he been a Republican, Kos/HuffPo would be saying he did this purely for political reasons and it wasn’t that big a deal anyway. What do we do? Praise him.

"This is why the left wins most battles. They come to the fight with an F-18, we come to the fight with a butter knife."

Revolving Door

Remember, remember, remember: the mainstream media is an arm of the Democratic Party. Simple as that.

Malkin on Rosen.

You rely on the usual organs or One In Particular That Will Remain Nameless?

Then you have surrendered your God-given right to think for yourself - and abdicated your responsibility as a free-born American to participate intelligently in the political process.

In 2012, in the era of information, there is just no excuse.  None at all.

The Anti-Israel Miasma Seeps Down On The Dem Side

When your party leader overtly hates and works against Israel, the tendency can be hard to contain.

Now leading Dems in droves joint the stampede, and jump on a J-Street concocted, Israel-bashing bandwagon (Big Peace):

"The group's latest effort is the so-called 'Cohen-Yarmuth-Connolly Letter,' which calls on the Obama administration to keep pushing Israel towards accepting a two-state solution--as if Israel's acceptance of, and enthusiasm for, that solution were ever in doubt. This week, a Palestinian official called for the rival Hamas and Fatah factions to unite to destroy Israel; Hillary Clinton's response has been to give them more money."

...

"There are clearly close to 80 Democrats who are prepared to sacrifice the security--and, potentially, the existence--of the state of Israel for the sake of Obama's re-election campaign."

Hey, ostensibly pro-Israel Dems: care to reconsider your party affiliation and world view?

It's never too late to change!  Live and learn!!

More Anti-Israel Leaks From Obama

Attention, purportedly pro-Israel Obamazoids:

Observe. Learn (Big Peace):

"So what would be the purpose of the leak this time? The same as the last time: it’s supposed to tip off the Iranians to efforts against them, and it’s supposed to dissuade the Israelis from doing anything to stop the Iranian nuclear program. And those efforts are largely Israeli – Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has already denied any US involvement in the assassinations of the Iranian nuclear scientists.

"This leak is just the latest in a pattern of leaks from the Obama administration, which has already leaked information about a covert Israeli deal with Azerbaijan to use airbases in that country as a staging point for an attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities. In 2010, the Obama administration leaked information of a covert deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia to use Saudi airspace for such an attack."

Change your world view!  Recognize reality! I know you can do it!!

Obama And SCOTUS

Commentary by The Hammer (NRO):

"Obamacare passed the Congress without a single vote from the opposition party – in contradistinction to Social Security, the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, Medicare, and Medicaid, similarly grand legislation, all of which enjoyed substantial bipartisan support. In the Senate, moreover, Obamacare squeaked by through a parliamentary maneuver called reconciliation that was never intended for anything so sweeping. The fundamental deviation from custom and practice is not the legal challenge to Obamacare but the very manner of its enactment."

As for ObamaCare's purported constitutionality, CK succinctly summarizes its obliteration at argument.

If you Dems out there would just unglue your eyes from the pages of The New York Times-Dem, you might be better prepared for the vagaries of the real word.  Just a bit of advice, friends.

Head Of Racist UN Commission Demands Trayvon Martin Investigation

Yeah, sure (POH Diaries). The UN Commission on Human Rights. Now that's a body with lots of credibility.

As for Navi Pillay, she's a typical UN crook.

Steyn Translates Progressive-ese

"Aside from his contempt for judicial review and those rube voters, what other checks and balances doesn’t he have time for? Well, he makes 'recess appointments' when the Senate isn’t in recess, thus circumventing the dreary business of confirmation by that 'democratically elected' legislature he likes so much. But hey, it’s only members of the National Labor Relations Board and the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, so why get hung up on constitutional niceties?

"By the way, have you heard of this Consumer Financial Protection Bureau? No? Don’t worry, no big deal, it’s just a new federal agency. Because we can always use another of those, right? What’s one more acronym jostling in the ever-more-crowded alphabet soup of federal regulation? CFTC, CPSC, CNPP, and now CFPB. Not to be confused with CFPB-FM, the Inuit radio station just south of the Arctic Circle in the Nunavut village of Kugaaruk, where in 1975 the world’s all-time coldest wind chill was recorded: minus 135 degrees Fahrenheit.

"Where was I? Oh, yes: the world’s all-time coldest wind chill. That’s what you’re going to be feeling at this point in an Obama second term. If you like his contempt for judicial review, parliamentary scrutiny, and representative democracy now, wait’ll you see how 'flexible' he’ll get starting in January 2013. The CFPB appointment is not a small thing. Indeed, its new director, one Richard Cordray, embodies what’s gone so disastrously wrong with American government: You’ll have to be in compliance with him, but he doesn’t have to be in compliance with anybody, whether the Senate or the U.S. Constitution. As I say somewhere in my recent book, you don’t need a president-for-life if you’ve got a bureaucracy-for-life. More and more aspects of the citizen’s daily existence are regulated by rules and officials both of which are ever more disconnected from any meaningful accountability to the people’s representatives. As the president says, look for even more 'flexibility' in a second term: more non-recess recess appointments, more executive orders, more bewildering innovations from the commissars of the hyper-regulatory state."

And that's not all. Read the whole thing. Brilliant.

Even After Everything That We Know

About the Trayvon Martin case now, including the reprehensible role Sharpton has again played in stoking racial resentment and the danger of violence, the reverend is permitted to show up at the White House.

For shame.

And there are still people -any people - who are supporting the reelection of this disgraceful catastrophe of a President? The mind boggles.

Once A Sterling Moral Compass, Always A Sterling Moral Compass

Guenter Grass, whom I believe we read in high school German class, apparently doesn't think serving in the SS during WW II sufficiently taints his eternal legacy, so he spruces up said legacy with a spiffy blood libel against the Jews (right before Passover!):

"In his poem, the 85-year-old author claims that Israel’s nuclear reactor – and not Iran’s – presents a threat to world peace. Grass’ poem calls for Germany to cease supplying Israel with submarines, and warns against an Israeli strike on Iran.

"The poem, entitled 'What must be said,' will be published on Wednesday in the Deutsche Zeitung and La Republica. In the poem, Grass writes that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a 'big mouth,' and that the intentions of the Iranian nuclear program are not proven."

Now what would be nice is to hear some criticism from gentile German sources, especially those in the government, and not just from Jews. I'm willing to give 'em a day or two.

About The DNC's "Jewish Outreach Liason"

Botwinick at The Corner hits the right note on Danielle Gilbert:

"Add this to the growing list of examples of the perils of Facebook and social media. It’s an offensive joke and she should know better. Still, there is something invasive and tawdry in reposting someone’s Facebook photos. We should criticize her for her support of organizations such as J Street. Let’s debate the Democrats’ dangerous and failed policies on the Middle East (emphasis mine, EK) and leave the college photos out of it."

Ouch!

Wehner at Contentions rips the Prez a new one (over Obama's now notorious, idiotic warning to SCOTUS over ObamaCare):

"What the president said, then, was so ill-informed, so ignorant, that people assumed he must know better. There’s no way we can know. But whatever the case, this has been quite a bad stretch for the president. His comments about the Supreme Court, when combined with his astonishingly dishonest attack on the House GOP budget (see here for more), portray a president who is living in a fantasy world — a place where facts and history are inverted, lies become truth, where everything is subordinated to ambition and you simply make things up as you go along. Nietzsche referred to this mindset as the 'will to power.' In American politics it’s known as The Chicago Way.

"I don’t know what the political effect of all this will be. But intellectually, this is the week where Barack Obama jumped the shark. In a deep, fundamental way, he is no longer a serious man. Nor an honest one. His public words are now purposefully bleached of truth. And that is a painful thing to have to say about an American president."

Dem Cheating Machine In Overdrive

Harbinger of Things To Come this fall (Malkin):

"Primary petitions. Absentee ballots. Doctors’ orders. Fraudulent signatures are becoming the signature of desperate Democrats who play the electoral game by one set of rules: By Any Means Necessary.

"Yet, progressives in the media and White House continue to strike a see-no-election-fraud, hear-no-election-fraud, speak-no-election-fraud pose. And Team Obama’s Axelrod supplies the laugh track. Yuck, yuck, yuck."

Left-Wing Perplexity

Now that the naked, economy-wrecking, liberty-destroying, left-wing power grab that is ObamaCare is flashing it's lawless derriere for all to see, our centrist, moderate, all-Americans-leading, consensus-building, reaching-out, un-divisive super-great Prez is issuing threats against the Court (Allah).

Jonah Goldberg's New Book Hits Some Of My All Time Favorites

JG's "Goldberg File" (e-new letter so no link) previews The Tyranny Of Cliches:

"The result for liberals and centrists is that they know a great many things without knowing why they know them. They take it as a given that the 'center' is a more legitimate and serious place than the right or the left. They instinctively nod when they hear platitudes and statements of principle substituting for an argument (I can't tell you how many kids on college campuses tell me that it's better that ten guilty men go free than one innocent be punished -- and then sit down, as if they've made an argument, rather than expressed a principle everyone basically agrees with).

"Conservatives have just as many ideological preferences as liberals, but we understand that they are ideological preferences and so we seek to justify, legitimize, and corroborate them. Liberals think they are free of ideological preferences (liberalism has no principles, argued Herbert Croly, liberalism is "an activity") and so they see no need to justify their views beyond naked assertions of moral superiority.

"You see this dynamic play itself out all of the time when it comes to the Constitution. Conservatives think the Constitution matters, and even those Republicans who don't really care about it understand that their constituents do. So they make some effort to work within the Constitution. This strikes many liberals as a weird waste of time, at least when it comes to their agenda (they love the Constitution when it checks conservative ambition).

"When liberals are pressed to explain their ideological preferences beyond a concatenation of bumper stickers and assertions of good intentions -- 'we care about the poor!' 'we need to do something about inequality!' -- you often get exasperation or gobsmacked befuddlement.

"When Nancy Pelosi was asked whether Obamacare was constitutional she responded, 'Are you serious? Are you serious?' The reporter responded, 'Yes, yes I am.'

Furious, no doubt due to her embarrassment over having no idea how to even respond to such a question, she replied, 'You can put this on the record. That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question.'

"But as we were reminded this week, it is a serious question. The guy who learned that the hard way was poor Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, who I imagine is on his back amidst a sea of empty scotch bottles and crumpled op-ed pages, wondering how he got himself in such a mess (I have obtained exclusive video of him coming home after his meeting with Obama after the hearing. I can't explain the Santa suit.)

"Personally, I don't think he did that bad a job. His problem was that he had a bad product. Like salesmen trying to pass off refrigerator boxes with painted-on wheels as real cars, liberals get in trouble whenever someone examines their products too closely."

My note: when JG says "liberal" he means lefty (Progressive). That is, the modern, debased meaning of "liberal" that I despise.

More Surprises

Incredibly, ObamaCare is proving to be...what's the word...unconstitutional.  After all. Fancy that.

Ace:

"They were surprised by these arguments. Podhoretz says They should not have been surprised.

"No one was hiding these arguments. They have been readily-available in court records for two years.

"Nor was anyone hiding the two courts' decisions agreeing with these arguments.

"Liberals just chose to ignore relevant information about the world they live in, and then call themselves sophisticated for having chosen to be stupider than God made them."

Podhoretz:

"The panicked reception in the mainstream media of the three-day Supreme Court health-care marathon is a delightful reminder of the nearly impenetrable parochialism of American liberals.

"They’re so convinced of their own correctness — and so determined to believe conservatives are either a) corrupt, b) stupid or c) deluded — that they find themselves repeatedly astonished to discover conservatives are in fact capable of a) advancing and defending their own powerful arguments, b) effectively countering weak liberal arguments and c) exposing the soft underbelly of liberal self-satisfaction as they do so."

...

"There’s no telling which of 10 possible ways the high court will finally rule. But one thing is for certain: There will again come a time when liberals and conservatives disagree on a fundamental intellectual matter. Conservatives will take liberals and their arguments seriously and try to find the best way to argue the other side.

"And the liberals will put their fingers in their ears and sing, 'La la la.' ”

As for my reaction at lefties sanctimoniously ignoring the legitimacy of conservative arguments: it is the same as my reaction to Obama stabbing Israel in the back:
